Fashion Report -Glasses

I was seriously considering a laser eye surgery and get rid of all the glasses (I had three pairs) for good. Sis was against it. Mom was against it. T happened to be against it. Didn't quite have anyone who would support me on this when I met the eye-wear love of my life a month ago.

The camellias totally kicked the Lasik's ass, and I will never turn back!

Around the same time I made my fourth pair of glasses, I was probably "seeing" things more clearly, and also fell in love with a pair of shades by Chanel. I haven't had the need to really wear shades ever since I left southern Cali, lack of sun and all, you know. And besides, I never really am out in the sun due to my sun allergy. But for a pair like this? I am willing to go out there and get scorched down to my bone.

So, rain me with UV!

(Having said that, my sun allergy is to be taken seriously, so what I'm really gonna do is pretend I'm some sort of celebrity and wear them inappropriately when I'm inside of places, like airports and restaurants and museums... )

Diary of a Semi-Macrobiotic Japanadian

Hello, my dear readers.

I just wanted to post a note to let you know that my other blog, Life Macrobiotics, has been imported here into Diary of a Japanadian. The two are united on account that I felt like the two aspects of my everyday life are too important to seperate from one another. That, and it's simply easier for me to manage them in just one blog.

My two other artsy blogs, though, Temps de Crayon, and For a Lack of Better Words, both of which I have not renewed in a while by the way, will remain the way they are. *Life Macrobiotics started on 13th January 2010 when I decided to "convert" my way of eating. It reported the whole-food items I tried and made, as well as recipes and pics. Please see the first post if you are interested.

Teatime in the Late Morning

Visited a friend last Friday before work, and was served her apple crafty. Yumminess!!


Goes really well with a cup of milk tea. Lots of dried prunes and a scoop of yogurt (in lie of sour cream) make a very not-too-sweet concussion with the sugary apple.

Book Report -Stardust

They've made a film as well, which I have seen and also adore, but the original is always better, I'd say.

At first the same book in Japanese translation was handed to me to try, but knowing that the words and phrases were all veiled, I just could not get into it for the life of me. So I honestly yet apologetically expressed my problem in reading a translated version of an English novel, which disappoined the owner of the book a little. Then a couple of weeks later, the original version was delivered and given to me. I cannot express enough how much I adore the gift. Thank you, T!

Had I read this book a few years ago, I would have not liked it as much, if at all. I would have probably not finished this book, or even worse started it. The whole idea of a fairy tale made for adults was something I would shrug off just as well as I would, say, a romantic comedy starred by J Lo.

So, for those of you readers who do not buy into romanticism or idealism in literature, this book should stay as far away from your bookshelf as a galaxy (you can take the very title quite literally, really). Those of you whose heart, or a piece of it, still remains alive in the mind of a child, dig in!

Gone Gaga for Guava

Here is the drink that I had every morning the whole time I was in Hong Kong: guava juice with pear dices.

Amazingly amazing! Whoever thought to concuss guava and pear is a frigging genius!

Step aside, Minite Maid orange juice with lots of pulps! This one is my new favorite morning glory of a drink!

I often use the word "divinity" for something that tastes too good to be true. I've definitely added this one to my "divine" list of food that I'm bringing to my death bed.

Go Greek!

Slowing continuing with my Hong Kong trip update...

I did a whole lot of shopping while I was there. But my favorite find has to be the pair of Steve Madden Greek sandals that I loved oh so very much, I was going totally gaga at the store, which eventually made Y hooked with them too!


What are we, 7? Like two little school girls wearing the matching shoes, giggling. Well, at least we don't live together or near each other or anything, so we won't be caught with the matching sandals at least. Not that we would mind it if that were to happen.

I've shifted my footwear gear from pin-heels to flats lately, and was trying to find a great pair for the summer to come, so I'm smitten.

The View from the Top

I haven't blogged much about the Hong Kong trip that I have just taken. So far I've got "deserts" and "noodles" down, coming off like I only went there to eat. I've been spending less and less time on line, and on top of that I haven't really looked through the pictures I took either.

Allow me to regain cyber respect, and let me tell you the best thing that I came across during the trip... well, at the end of the trip, more like, but here goes.

The sunset, caught from the small window while waiting for the laboratory on the plane, was tear-sheddingly beautiful. I'm glad I stood up at that moment from the seat to go loo in the air.

Totally Noodled

Continuing with my Hong Kong updates, I have to blog about my love for noodle soups this time. I tried so many kinds while I was there.

Won Ton and Pho (above) are my favorite of all time, but the other kinds are surprisingly tasty, too.

Mad About Mango

So I was in Hong Kong for 6 days the past week, where I was totally hooked with mango deserts!

Madness is their deliciousness! I think it's the tapioca that makes them extra yummy. (Below is me pointing at the store in the guidebook when we found it quite by accident on our way back to hotel. Look how happy I look ).

Film Report - Alice in Wonderland

The movie rocks!


I opted for the 3D and yes, my eyes were about to fall out in the end because the awesomeness of the film will make you not want to blink at all because you don't wanna miss anything, but it was totally worth the pain.
